About the role

Syntony tests AI systems and helps organizations decide what to do with the results. Our work brings together AI evaluation, security, and governance.

You will work directly alongside the founder across the practical work of running and growing Syntony. Your projects may include improving internal processes, coordinating activities, researching prospective clients and partners, and helping communicate our work.

This is an opportunity to gain practical experience across business operations, business development, and marketing while the company is taking shape. You will agree on focused weekly priorities with the founder, with the scope of your work kept within the 10-hour weekly commitment.

What you will do

  • Operations: Keep shared records, task trackers, and process documentation organized; help with scheduling, coordination, and day-to-day administration.
  • Business development: Research prospective clients and partners, prepare meeting briefs and outreach drafts, and help organize follow-ups.
  • Marketing and communications: Help draft and organize social media posts, newsletters, website updates, and other materials explaining Syntony’s work.
  • Projects and events: Support planning, logistics, and follow-through for selected workshops, events, and company initiatives.
  • Research and improvement: Gather information to support business decisions and suggest practical ways to improve how we work.
  • Weekly priorities: Take responsibility for agreed tasks, communicate progress, and flag questions or blockers early.

What you bring

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program; students from any major are welcome.
  • Availability for 10 hours per week from December 2026 through February 2027, working remotely with some agreed in-person meetings in the Raleigh–Durham–Chapel Hill area.
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail.
  • Comfort communicating professionally, asking questions, and following through on commitments.
  • A demonstrated interest in business and/or technology, and a willingness to learn across operations, business development, and marketing.
  • Curiosity about customer needs and how technology creates value for organizations, with a willingness to learn about AI evaluation, security, and governance.
  • Comfort with—or willingness to learn—spreadsheets, presentations, shared documents, and tools for organizing tasks, contacts, and communications.

Your interest can come from coursework, projects, student organizations, internships, part-time work, volunteering, or self-directed learning. We welcome concrete examples of curiosity, initiative, and follow-through, wherever you have developed them.

Helpful background includes business, economics, marketing, entrepreneurship, computer science, engineering, or data-related courses; customer-facing work; market research; sales or outreach; organizing events; or building a product or technical project. These are examples, not prerequisites. Prior formal experience in operations, business development, or marketing is not required.

Room to learn and grow

Work directly with the founder, learn through practical projects across the business, and see how your contributions shape the company’s next steps. Develop skills in organization, communication, research, and project coordination, with regular guidance and feedback.

There is potential for this internship to grow into a full-time role as Syntony develops, depending on mutual fit, your contribution, and business needs.

Schedule and benefits
