Head of GTM

Syntony · Remote · Durham, NC · Team growth planned across SF · DC · London · Brussels · Singapore

Build the commercial motion for an AI risk firm that turns red-team findings into governance that holds. Founder-led sales becomes a repeatable GTM system here.

About Syntony

Syntony is an AI risk firm. We conduct adversarial evaluations of frontier and production AI systems, build the governance architecture to act on findings, and ship software that makes both repeatable. We work with frontier labs, public sector clients, and enterprise deployments where the stakes are real.

The commercial problem is sharp: buyers know AI risk matters, but the market is noisy. Your job is to help serious teams understand the difference between a vulnerability report and a governance-ready operating system.

About the role

We are hiring a Head of GTM to build the first repeatable commercial motion at Syntony. This is not a brand-only role and not a pure sales role. It is the operating layer between market, product, partnerships, services, and founder-led selling.

You will turn early demand into a system: who we pursue, how we explain the work, which offers convert, what evidence buyers need, and where product and services reinforce each other.

Founder-led sales to GTM system

Codify what works, remove what does not, and build the first motion that can scale beyond the founder.

High-trust market, high-stakes buyers

The audience is frontier labs, public sector teams, enterprise risk owners, boards, and operators. Credibility matters more than volume.

Products and services together

Red-team sprints, governance advisory, Resonance, GovTune AI, CLD Suite, and the Enterprise AI Risk Index should reinforce one market story.

Commercial judgment

You know when to sell, when to qualify out, when to partner, and when a market signal should change the roadmap.

Scope

What you will own

Positioning

Make Syntony legible to buyers without flattening the work. Translate red-team evidence, governance architecture, and product value into a clear market narrative.

Pipeline

Build targeted pipeline across frontier labs, enterprise AI risk teams, public sector buyers, advisors, and strategic partners.

Offer design

Shape red-team sprints, governance diagnostics, advisory packages, and product entry points into offers buyers can understand and act on.

Partnerships

Identify channels, institutions, platforms, and service partners that can move Syntony into the right rooms without diluting the brand.

Commercial operations

Own CRM discipline, deal notes, offer inputs, qualification criteria, handoffs, and the evidence base for future hires.

Market learning

Turn sales conversations into product and strategy signal. The output is not more meetings. The output is sharper decisions.

Strong candidates will have

  • Experience building early GTM motion for technical, regulated, security, AI, or enterprise risk products.
  • Evidence of selling or partnering into high-trust environments where credibility, timing, and buyer education matter.
  • Strong taste in positioning. You can make complex work simple without making it generic.
  • Comfort working close to product and delivery. You can hear market signal and translate it into offer, roadmap, or qualification changes.
  • Low-ego operating style. You can write the memo, run the call, update the CRM, draft the deck, and close the loop.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to brief technical and non-technical buyers.

Bonus

  • Existing network across AI labs, enterprise AI governance, security, defense, financial services, healthcare, or public sector technology.
  • Experience selling services that later became software, or software that was pulled through by expert services.
  • Familiarity with AI evaluation, model risk management, security assurance, policy, or governance workflows.
  • Experience with analyst relations, founder-led thought leadership, conferences, or strategic partnerships.
  • Prior work in a venture-backed company before the commercial motion was fully formed.

How we evaluate

We weight demonstrated judgment heavily. Lead with the strongest evidence of markets you have opened, offers you have clarified, and commercial systems you have built.

  1. Application review and short async conversation.
  2. Commercial judgment conversation.
  3. Paid work sample: one GTM memo or offer teardown.
  4. Founder working session.
  5. Reference conversations.
  6. Offer.
Compensation & benefits

The offer

Cash

We pay competitively for first commercial leadership at our stage. Numbers are a real conversation, not a posted band. We calibrate to scope, the path Syntony is on, and what you need to make this work.

Equity

Founding-team equity. Real ownership, not symbolic. The grant reflects that you are joining before the round, not after it.

Benefits

Healthcare, retirement, generous time off, parental leave. We use the same infrastructure most serious early-stage companies use and we tailor the package to your situation at offer.

Equipment

Your choice of hardware. Whatever lets you do your best work, including coworking if you want it.

Travel and relationships

Budget for the rooms that matter: client meetings, conferences, partner visits, and the relationship-building a high-trust market requires.

Sabbatical

We want this to be a career, not a sprint. Sabbatical eligibility scales with tenure.

Location

Remote. Syntony is based in Durham, North Carolina, with team growth planned across San Francisco, Washington DC, London, Brussels, and Singapore. These are the cities the work is heading toward. Working near a current or planned hub is helpful for periodic in-person collaboration, but it is not required. Geography is not a filter for the right person.
