Head of Partnerships

Syntony evaluates, red teams, and helps govern advanced systems, including AI. Much of our work happens with partners: universities and research institutions we study and publish with, firms we deliver alongside, and organizations that bring us into their programs and events.

You will own that portfolio. You will set partnership priorities with the founder, open and close new partnerships, and make sure existing ones produce real work. You will work closely with our program leads, Head of Red Teaming, and Head of Research Strategy and Evaluations.

• Set Syntony’s partnership strategy and priorities with the founder.
• Identify, open, and negotiate partnerships with universities, research institutions, AI developers, technology and consulting firms, and public sector and nonprofit organizations.
• Build referral, co-delivery, and research partnerships that lead to client engagements, publications, and joint programs.
• Manage existing partners, keep commitments on track, and grow the relationships that work.
• Organize joint events, workshops, and hackathons with partners.
• Run the partnership pipeline and agreements, working with the founder on terms.
• Represent Syntony at conferences, convenings, and partner meetings.

• 7+ years in partnerships, business development, or alliances in technology, research, consulting, or the public sector.
• A track record of opening and closing partnerships that produced revenue, research, or programs.
• A network across AI, technology, academia, or government, and the judgment to know which relationships matter.
• Experience negotiating agreements and coordinating work across organizations with different incentives.
• Clear writing and confident presentation to senior leaders.
• Comfort working through ambiguity at an early-stage company and building a function from a small base.

Familiarity with AI safety, evaluation, or governance is useful. We assess demonstrated work and judgment; a graduate degree is not required.

This role can be part-time or full-time. Syntony is scaling, so we will shape the role around your availability and what the work needs. We will agree a weekly commitment and scope before you start and revisit them as the company grows.

The role comes with generous cash compensation and equity, which we will discuss in the initial interview. Final terms will be agreed in writing before work begins.
